A tantalizing dinner, a spot of theater, a bottle of crisp bubbly and a tender walk through New York City’s Central Park set the stage for Andrew’s marriage proposal to Kate. It was, in fact, Central Park’s backdrop of trees, gardens and blossoming fragrant Winter Jasmine that would set the theme for Kate and Andrew’s garden nuptials, which followed six months later.
On August 11, 2007, one hundred and twenty family members and friends witnessed the marriage of Kate and Andrew at Graydon Hall Manor in Toronto. The couple fell in love with the property’s formal gardens, cascading fountains and elegant dining room the moment they saw it. They knew the location’s natural setting, filled with spectacular trees and gardens, made it ideal for an intimate outdoor ceremony.
The couple chose a colour scheme of clean white, cephalon green and splashes of vibrant fuchsia to highlight the dining room’s formal grace. The floral décor, designed by Karina from Posies, combined the whimsical and timelessness of roses and the drama of hydrangeas to compliment the lush garden backdrop.
