Real Wedding by 5ive15ifteen photo company

I had basically said no more blind dating when I got a call from a family friend. He told me that he had the perfect guy to set me up with. That’s what they all say, I thought. He then assured me that Yale and I would get along because he knew the both of us. He promised me it would not be a horrible night. I agreed to the date and he was absolutely right…it was completely enjoyable.

Yale had a dental convention to go to in NYC and he knew my love affair with New York so he invited me along. I had absolutely no idea what he had in store! When we arrived he went to the convention and I spent the day roaming the streets. That evening we went to the East Village for dinner followed by a quick stop at one of my favourite places in New York, Magnolia Bakery. We bought four cupcakes and were headed back to the hotel. I excused myself to use the bathroom at which point Yale inserted the ring in the chocolate cupcake (I had told him I loved the chocolate one). When I came out we were sipping our coffees and he brought the box over. To Yale’s surprise, I decided to choose the vanilla cupcake! He swiftly picked up the chocolate cupcake and began nibbling. “Switch,” Yale said and the chocolate cupcake was in my hands. I began to eat it and noticed the silver part of the ring. I was so embarrassed. I mistook the ring for some kind of bolt or screw in the pastry. I said to Yale, “we should go back. This is terrible.” He then said, “Well what is it? See what it is.” After much prodding I examined the cupcake more carefully and noticed that it was in fact an engagement ring. At this point, I had no breath and just looked over to Yale. He held my hands looked into my eyes and…. proposed. Ahhh. It was perfect. We then spent the rest of the night calling family and friends.

After some consideration, we held our wedding reception at the Four Seasons. The staff at the Four Seasons accommodated our every wish and made our wedding a magical night.

I didn’t have a theme. I just wanted it to be classic, minimal and a bit funky…and it was that and much more. My dress was bought at Vera Wang and my flowers were from William Fulghum from Church Street Flowers in Toronto who also did the entire decor for the wedding. He has incredible taste and style. I was completely confident that he would create the feeling I was looking for and it was truly a pleasure to work with him; he came through with every single aspect of his job. I remember him walking me into the room for the first time and it honestly took my breath away. He has a true gift.
