Real Wedding by Xero Digital
Who would have thought that 11 years ago the girl that John, a 26-year old Business Analyst, first laid eyes on as a teenager would one day become his wife. Indeed, after proposing to Nirosha, a 24-year old Elementary School Teacher, with a stunning 2.5-carat cushion cut Canadian diamond; the couple exchanged vows in one of Toronto’s most lavish weddings. There wasn’t a detail too small to be overlooked & International Award Winning Matthew Boyce of Xero Digital was there every step of the way to document this show-stopping event.
John, dressed in Hugo Boss, had to pinch himself, as he couldn’t believe this day had actually come true. Teary eyed, he watched as the bride’s father Cecil, escorted the girl that he had longed to be with for years…11 years to be exact! Clutching on to a gorgeous bouquet of white Phalaenopsis orchids intertwined with countless strands of crystals that gave the look of shooting stars, Nirosha wore a fitting sweetheart neck line ball gown, with hand-adorned Swarovski crystal beading on the bodice & a matching emerald cut crystal tiara to tie in with her bouquet. Her makeup was done flawlessly by Tracy Lettner-Copland & her hair was styled by Unique Cuts Hair Salon. The bridal party was made up of only their closest & dearest friends and family, who flew from all parts of the world including Australia, France, England & California to attend their special day. The bridesmaids were draped in pale pink satin gowns carrying a beautiful posy made up of roses & orchids in shades of pink, & the groomsmen wore pale pink paisley ties to coordinate.

250 guests were greeted at the all-grand Mississauga Convention Centre where they dinned on Fillet Mignon & Baked Alaska served by dancing waiters. The bride & groom cut into a 12-tier cake ornamented with falling crystals & butterflies specially created by the bride’s mother. Not wanting the risk of rain with an outdoor wedding the couple opted instead to bring the outdoors in. The bride’s aunt Indra Perera, a trained florist by Feltons U.K, a company synonymous for outstanding floristry & who has made arrangements for Queen Elizabeth herself, used 1600 flowers to convert the hall into a beautiful summer’s garden. Each centerpiece consisted of a 100 flowers, topped off with pink and white snapdragons & a pink crystallized butterfly to tie into the theme. A 20-foot custom made backdrop was draped in pale pink & apple green satin accented with lit birch tree arrangements that were decorated with crystal butterflies as well. Guests were continuously entertained to the ever-so-talented violinist Grenville Pinto & Brazilian Dancers were used to open the dance floor. Edna Bennett, a dear friend of Nirosha & John, was remarkable in ensuring that the night went off just as the couple had been envisioning for years.
Lastly, to pay respect to their Singhalese roots, the bridesmaids changed into variegated blue saris to resemble the colours of the Indian Ocean & each carried a clay pot filled with green orchids that was traditionally known to be used in the Sri Lankan villages. The groomsmen also changed into vibrant turquoise blue sarongs from Barbara Sansoni & the crystal embroidery on the bride’s sari, picked up each shade of blue in the bridesmaid’s & groomsmen’s attire. To end their perfect day, John presented the biggest surprise of the night when he serenaded Nirosha to Ronan Keating’s song- This I Promise You. And although this marriage took 11 years to happen, like all fairytales- this too lasted with a happy ending!
