“As far as we are concerned, there is nothing more romantic than a winter wedding! And being New Englanders, there is no better place for one than snowy Vermont. In planning the fashion for the shoot, stylist Beth Chapman of The White Dress by the shore set out to embrace the cozy elements of winter with equally stunning contrasts. “I had such fun playing with textures and taking traditional wedding elements and mixing them with wintery pieces. For the bride’s less formal look, I paired a cabled cashmere sweater from Elisabeth Hunter Cashmere with a statement necklace from Ivy and Aster and a custom blue tulle skirt from The White Dress by the shore. For the groom’s formal look, I styled a classic tuxedo from Valentino Tailors with a chunky vintage handmade scarf.
“A bride’s attire should always be reflective of her venue – even if you that venue happens to be on a frozen lake! I layered various textures in shades of white for the bride’s look on the lake. It not only created beautiful dimension, but kept the model warm in the freezing temperatures. I paired a chunky cashmere turtleneck sweater from Elisabeth Hunter Cashmere with a Modern Trousseau fur bolero and tulle ball skirt. The look was completed with a cashmere beret accented with a stunning blue crystal brooch from Maria Elena.”
Milk Punch Recipe:
5 cups of a mixture of whole milk and half-and-half (4:1 is suggested)
1 1/2 cups bourbon or brandy
1 cup powdered sugar, sifted
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
Freshly grated nutmeg, for garnish
In a pitcher, whisk together milk, half-and-half, bourbon, sugar and vanilla. Freeze until slushy (usually takes 3 to 4 hours). Stir before serving it in chilled glasses, finished with a few gratings of fresh nutmeg.
