A VINTAGE VEGAS WEDDING

A VINTAGE VEGAS WEDDING

Kristen and Michael | July 19th, 2014

Kristen and Michael met during their postgraduate studies and were friends for a year until a dodge ball tournament. They were the last ones standing on opposing teams in the championship game of the tournament. Kristen threw the ball fiercely, directly at his groin, Michael caught it (falling to the ground in pain) and she lost the game. At that moment, she fell head over heels for him and he fell head over heels for her (literally).

The Vintage Vegas theme was chosen because the first trip that Mike and Kristen went on together was to Vegas. Despite the lavish entertainment of Vegas show girls, a roulette table, a caricaturist and candy cigarette waiters, they were able to stay on budget through all of her fun DIY projects! One of the highlights of their night was the family unity drink (in lieu of a father-daughter dance) to the tune of “Sweet Child O’ Mine.” Instead of a standard guest book, the couple had guests’ graffiti on a giant canvas. They had blankets as guest favours and ceremony ribbon wands instead of bubbles. They also had jeweled scrabble pieces as table names and mini candy-filled martini glasses instead of guest place cards.
