PINK MARIE ANTOINETTE MASQUERADE WEDDING

AN ENCHANTED WEDDING

Magda and Olek decided to wed on the lovely spring afternoon of April 28, 2012. The theme for their big day was inspired by an Enchanted Marie Antoinette along with the bride’s favourite colour combo: pink and gold. The event was the epitome of luxury, beauty and originality. The ceremony took place at the gorgeous St. Paul’s Basilica in Toronto just steps away from the Berkeley Church Event Venue where the reception was to follow. The entire church aisle was flanked by gold draped candle stands with stunning floral arrangements of pink peonies, roses, commercial mums and hydrangeas. The bride walked down the aisle in a custom gown made of hundreds of yards of ivory tulle and pleated silk as she carried a large bouquet of pink peonies and garden roses. She opted to give her bridesmaids pomander balls made of coral peonies as an alternative to handheld bouquets. The groom’s suit was a silver Dolce & Gabbana stunner matched perfectly by his groomsmen’s grey tuxes.

Immediately after the ceremony, guests walked over to an enchanted cocktail reception which took place in the basement and the courtyard of Berkeley Church. A pond full of floating candles and flowers as well as hanging lanterns greeted guests as they made their way to the soiree. As guests mingled and enjoyed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, the happy couple along with their bridal party went to take photos in the most unusual of places – an abandoned warehouse – which proved to be the perfect background for a striking wedding photo shoot. Once the couple returned from the photo session, dinner was served on the first and second floor of the reception venue. The bottom floor of the Berkeley Church featured long family tables draped with gold lace linens lined with floral runners made of different shades of pink, coral and fuchsia blooms and twinkling mini candles. It also featured a large square head table and two 17-inch sandblasted manzanita trees with pink flamingos. The top floor had round tables with large floral topiaries of matching blossoms, branches and feathers. On each place setting sat a guest favour nestled inside a large coral peony head. Hand-painted images of Marie Antoinette graced the tables in place of traditional table numbers. The beautiful wedding cake matched the décor as it included coral peonies, pink ruffles and pink ostrich feathers. At the beginning of the reception pink Champagne was served and at the end fuchsia sky lanterns were released, all to perfectly tie in with the theme of the event.
