With Easter just around the corner, we can’t help but notice the striking resemblance these colourful confetti treats have to the beloved eggs we hide each year. The hard candy–widely popular among Italians, yet to be fully embraced by the Canadian community–is constantly looking to be improved and created in new and expressive ways for a couple on their wedding day.
Although we love that the treat is offered in an endless variety of shapes, flavours and colours, the beauty and simplicity of confetti goes beyond appearance. For many years, the candy has been used to symbolize and celebrate marriage: the sugar coating representing a sweet life for the couple; health, wealth, happiness, fertility and long life represented by every five confetti served to a guest; and (through every odd number of the candy handed out), the couple will learn to share, compromise and ensure their love will last forever.
With this much tradition in one small candy, why not incorporate it into your special day? Make it your something old and something new! Whichever way you look at it, weddings unite families through the past, the present and the future.
